Iron is a naturally occurring element, which means it is normal to have trace amounts in your water.  Although iron is important for the health of your red blood cells, too much iron can cause abdominal and bowel pain, nausea, cramping, vomiting, and constipation. It is recommended that drinking water should contain less than 0.3 milligrams of iron per liter.  If your water is off-colored or has a metallic taste, you may want to check the iron levels.

Using Test Assured’s Iron Test Kits for Iron in Water, you’ll know how much iron is in your water in just a few minutes.  The kit allows you to quickly and accurately test your drinking water for iron. With the quick dissolving reagent tablet, there is no measuring or special equipment needed. Simply place the tablet in the vial with your sample, put the cap on and shake.  Then you dip the test strip in the solution for two seconds and shake it off.  Wait 60 seconds to compare the test strip to the color chart and you’ll know exactly how much iron is in your water.  The test contains enough supplies for you to perform four separate tests because regular testing is important

These tests are made for use in your home, office, school, or anywhere you want to test water quality.  They are portable, simple to perform, and yield immediate results without having to mail away samples.  They work with well water, municipal water, and even bottled water.

Product Description

Water that comes from municipal sources is supposed to be tested regularly for contaminants.  While most public water sources are safe, you can never be too sure. Recent news stories have revealed that negligence and aging service lines can lead to serious water quality issues.

Even though iron is a necessary part of the human diet, too much iron can cause health issues.  Iron is naturally found in the soil where it is absorbed by rainwater and aquifers.  If your water is cloudy or has a reddish-brown tint, it could contain above normal levels of iron.  Iron is seldom found in water at levels higher than ten parts per million, but high levels of iron can cause an unpleasant taste and leave unsightly stains and deposits on fixtures and appliances.

Cloudy, muddy looking water can be an indication of high-iron water, but contamination is not always easily visible. The only way to know what is in your water is to test it.  With Test Assured’s Iron Test Kits for Iron in Water, you can be sure your water does not contain harmful levels of iron.

This single kit includes all of the following:

  • 1 sample vial
  • 4 individually sealed iron reagent tablets
  • 4 test strips foil wrapped, 2 per pack
  • Detailed instructions
  • Easy to read color chart to determine iron levels

Great test kit! Easy to use, quick results, a great pre-screening before sending my water off to a testing lab.

I bought this kit to test the effectiveness of our iron removal system, and the kit worked as expected. It was simple to use. Given the nature of this test and the need to compare colors to determine the concentration, it can really only provide a pretty rough estimate of the iron level. However, for my purpose, this was sufficient.

The test was easy and came with directions. I used all four test strips to check various things. We found that the iron was not coming from our pipes, but from our cast iron skillets. I’m glad I bought this test. 5stars

Personally, I don’t think these kits work very well at all. We just built our home and are on well water only, and we have an extremely high iron content as evidenced by the rings we get inside of our toilet bowls. I conducted to individual test on separate days, one from our kitchen faucet and the other from the raw water coming directly out of the well pump. We only have a salt softener system & aerorator to reduce the sulphur odors. I wish I could upload a picture of the results from both tests, because they are barely even comparable to the pictures on the test kit itself. according to our results the test kit implies there is virtually no iron in the water which is horse crap.
